PM2.5 Forecast for Beijing – Tuesday, January 28, 2014

After clearing skies on Monday evening, we're expecting better than average air quality for Tuesday.  The general trend for the day will be increasing pollution, but it is difficult to tell when we'll climb up into the Unhealthy range.  We think it is most likely that we will make it to Unhealthy fairly early in the morning, with the AQI tracking near the top of our predicted range, but there is also the chance that the good air will last until after noon.  We'll hope for the best, but keep an eye on the hourly reports throughout the day.

EXTENDED FORECAST

WEDNESDAY, January 29: We’re expecting poor air quality on Wednesday morning and afternoon, with Unhealthy or higher levels, then we should see the pollution decrease in the evening.

THURSDAY, January 30:  Thursday should be a day with varied air quality.  There is a decent chance of good air quality in the early morning, but it looks like conditions should be deteriorating again by the afternoon and through the evening.  This will likely be exacerbated late in the evening by smoke from the New Year fireworks.

FRIDAY, January 31:  The poor air quality from Thursday evening should continue into Friday, and there is a good chance that we will see AQI levels at Very Unhealthy or higher at some point.
