PM2.5 Forecast for Beijing – Wednesday, May 7, 2014

As we watch the pollution accumulating on Tuesday evening, it looks like Wednesday morning will bring us poor air quality.  But we should see the skies clear at least to some extent on Wednesday between late morning and late afternoon.  If the weather cooperates, we could drop down into Good or Moderate AQI readings, but there is still a believable scenario where we would spend most of the day at Unhealthy or higher readings.

EXTENDED FORECAST

THURSDAY, May 8:  We should be back at Unhealthy conditions on Thursday morning, but there is some chance of improved air quality in the afternoon.

FRIDAY, May 9:  Friday’s weather forecast leaves us with a decent amount of uncertainty as to the pollution.  It's safe to say that we should not see AQI readings any higher than Unhealthy, and there is also a chance of seeing better than average air quality.  We'll monitor the weather forecasts and see if the forecast becomes more clear in the next day or two.

SATURDAY, May 10:  We're expecting about average conditions for Beijing on Saturday.  You can expect to see Unhealthy conditions for most of the day and a chance at improved air quality in the afternoon.
